Hello people of the BDO Forum. I am PoisonArrow, your new friendly darting blogger. I'll be writing about all things darts. Whether it's how a tournament ran, how a player behaved or who i think may win. I hope you all enjoy what I have to write. My first entry will concentrate on Lakeside and my predictions for the First Round.

Day 1:

Dave Prins (16) v John Walton

Two gentlemen of the sport who'll guarantee a great start to the tournament. Could go either way!
Prediction: Prins 2-3 Walton

Willy van de Wiel (9) v Alan Soutar

Going to be an interesting one, this! Watched how well Soutar played in the pairs at the Dutch Open and think he'll give a very good account of himself.
Prediction: van de Wiel 3-2 Soutar

Mark Barilli (12) v Martin Phillips

Both players with something to prove in this one! Barilli will be desperate to get into Round 2 for the first time and Phillips will be determined to prove that last year's fantstic run wasn't a fluke.
Prediction: Barilli 2-3 Phillips

Ross Montgomery (7) v Alan Norris

Another good match in the making here. Ross will want to keep his run going after a big win at the Zuiderduin.
Prediction: Montgomery 3-2 Norris

Martin Adams (1) v Tony West

A very tough opening for the reigning champion. Can see it being very close.
Prediction: Adams 3-2 West

Gary Robson (13) v Steve Douglas

Brilliant to see our own Steve back at Lakeside after so many years away! I think Robbo will be up for it this year but Steve's been throwing well!
Prediction: Robson 3-1 Douglas

Irina Armstrong (4) v Lorraine Farlam

Irina definitely has the upper hand when it comes to Lakeside experience but Lorraine has had a stellar year.
Prediction: Armstrong 1-2 Farlam

Trina Gulliver (1) v Wendy Reinstadtler

Wendy will give a very good account of herself but I have to back Trina.
Prediction: Gulliver 2-0 Reinstadtler

Day 2:

Steve West (4) v Dave Chisnall

Steve has been a consistent underachiever at Lakeside in the past few years where Dave has played some of his best darts on the great stage. Even though Dave hasn't travelled as much, I can't see past him.
Prediction: West 1-3 Chisnall

Tony O'Shea (8) v Ross Smith

Tony has had an indifferent year and it's great to see Ross back at Lakeside. Could be very very close.
Prediction: O'Shea 3-1 Smith

Joey ten Berge (5) v Shaun Griffiths

Joey has never won a match at Lakeside and his job isn't much easier this year. Shaun is a great player and I think he'll be well up for it!
Prediction: ten Berge 2-3 Griffiths

Garry Thompson (10) v Arno Merk

Garry was lucky to survive his first round last year and ended up having a pretty good run. Can't see the debutant getting through.
Prediction: Thompson 3-0 Merk

Stuart Kellett (2) v Darryl Fitton

It's never nice to see two top players and team mates drawing one another in the first round. Kellett is the man on form after a stellar year. Darryl is finding good form again but I don't think he's found it early enough.
Prediction: Kellett 3-1 Fitton

Scott Mitchell (15) v Jan Dekker

Scotty has one of the most refreshing attitudes in darts and I can see him doing well! Dekker didn't perform on the Winmau stage and I think that will continue into Lakeside.
Prediction: Mitchell 3-1 Dekker

Julie Gore (3) v Rhian Edwards

Rhian had a great run last year but I can see Julie winning this one!
Prediction: Gore 2-0 Edwards

Deta Hedman (2) v Patricia de Peuter

Patricia has done very well to get to Lakeside but couldn't have got a tougher first round draw! Can't see Deta losing!
Prediction: Hedman 2-0 de Peuter

Day 3:

Dean Winstanley (3) v Martin Atkins

At the Winmau, Dean seemed to struggle whereas Martin has the experience on the big stage. Going to be a cracker but Dean needs a quick start!
Prediction: Winstanley 2-3 Atkins

Brian Woods (11) v Stephen Bunting

Two great players playing some great darts. Tie breaker written all over it.
Prediction: Woods 2-3 Bunting

Scott Waites (6) v Ted Hankey

Scott is the man on form after his fantastic Grand Slam victory. Ted will need to be on top form and block out the crowd.
Prediction: Waites 3-1 Hankey

Robbie Green (14) v Andy Boulton

Both guys playing very good darts at the moment but Kong will want to put last year's first round exit and the Zuiderduin Final behind him.
Prediction: Green 3-1 Boulton

Best of luck to all 40 players competing at this year's Lakeside. I hope you all enjoy your experience and may the best man and lady win!
