Was a bit disappointed to hear that the Anglo Celtic Cup has been cancelled just after one year, I did not make last year’s one and was so looking forward to going this year, this is a message from Tommy Thompson to which he stated that due to lack of confirmed entries the Anglo County Celtic Cup had been cancelled by the holiday Camp. Tommy makes his apologies for any inconvenience that this may have caused to everyone, this is not what England want to be seen to be doing.

I think the problem has been caused by the camp double booking the event with another which they were unable to re-schedule, and our event them was re-scheduled with certain financial additions to which England were not party too, thus making the event too expensive in a lot of counties opinion.

Tommy will be working hard on finding an alternative for next season at a more realistic costing. I think the concept of the event was good and for those Counties, who attended the original event, would agree it was a very good and friendly competition. Once again on behalf of The England Board please accept our apologies at such short notice. Well Tommy here’s hoping that you can get it rejuvenated for next season good luck.

Well the county season is over for another few months and I am sure that there will be disappointments in certain counties especially for those that have been demoted, and may I say congratulations to those of you that have been promoted.

I travelled to Middlesex for their county game against London, Middlesex had to win by a great margin to prevent themselves from being demoted, but London had other ideas and were looking for another win behind their belts and because this was their last game of the season they wanted to go out on a high and that is what they did, London won over all 23 16 and there were some superb games played throughout the weekend, well done London and unlucky Middlesex but you will get back into the top flight again in the forthcoming season, good luck to London as they stay in Division 1 however I am sure that they will be setting their sights on getting that promotion to the premier division in 2012/2013. Good luck for the season 2011/2012.

The London super league is all but nearly over with only about 3 games to go in the ladies super league and 2 games to go on the men’s super league at present Edmonton are topping the ladies super league and welling are topping the men’s super league good luck to everyone for your remaining games.

Now onto other news and events that have been happening around the circuit, good luck to everyone travelling to the Welsh Open and also to Hayling Island to which I shall report on in my next column, winners of the German open ladies singles title to Deta Hedman and men’s winner was Benito Van DE pas, congratulations to you both.

Well done to Donna Rainsley on winning the Sittingbourne Open and congratulations to Pip Blackwell on taking the men’s singles, this is a great event and I hope it will go on for many a year, I missed going this year as well as missing a few other tournaments, but hope that we shall be travelling again soon when Tricia has fully recovered.
