2011 Lakeside qualifier Alan Soutar has been nominated to carry the Olympic Flame during the Olympic Torch Relay as it passes through Dundee on the 12th June 2012.
Beginning in Land’s End and finishing at the Olympic Stadium in London to mark the start of the 2012 Olympic Games on 27th July, the Olympic Flame will travel across the UK from Cornwall to the Shetland Islands, visiting the four Nations’ capitals and numerous Games venues along the way.
At the age of 33, Alan believes it would be a once in a lifetime chance to be part of the biggest event in the UK within his lifetime.
A true ambassador for the sport of darts, Alan is the League and Match Secretary for Arbroath Men's Darts. As the Chairperson & Secretary of Angus Darts Association, Alan puts a lot of his time into local and national darts events, actively encouraging 14-18 year olds to take part. Qualifying for the Lakeside World Championships was a dream come true as was being capped for Scotland earlier this year playing twice, winning one and losing one. He has since done a lot of charity work for Help For Heroes.
In his teens, Alan joined the army where he trained with the Paras and Royal Marines Commandos serving tours in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Kosovo and also joined the army cross country team.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing Alan every success for the future and fingers crossed that he is one of the lucky people chosen to carry the torch.
